# Taylor Detector

Taylor Detector is a single-purpose web app that helps shoppers identify whether a packaged food brand is associated with Taylor Farms.

## What it does

- Users scan a product barcode with their device camera.
- The app queries Open Food Facts for the product's brand.
- It compares the brand against a community-maintained registry of Taylor Farms-owned, subsidiary, and reported private-label brands.
- It returns one of three verdicts:
  - CONFIRMED — a verified Taylor Farms brand or subsidiary
  - UNCONFIRMED — commonly reported as a Taylor Farms private-label product, but not independently verified
  - NO MATCH — no match found in the registry

## Data sources

- Product metadata: Open Food Facts API (world.openfoodfacts.org)
- Brand association registry: Supabase-backed community-maintained list

## Important limitations

- The registry is not exhaustive. A "NO MATCH" result does not prove a product is unrelated to Taylor Farms.
- "UNCONFIRMED" results are based on reported associations, not official confirmation.
- The app is not affiliated with any consumer brand, government agency, or NGO.
